so turns out that if genetic therapy isn't done right, it could lead to incorrect genetic insertion and thus lead to cancer. sound scary, well its kind of intresting actually, and it makes sense too; if you think about it, cancer cells are caused by genetic mutaion, and gene therapy is using mutaion to cure diseases, thus it should be no supprise that it can cause cancer. however usually its not the cancer that causes the problems during gene therapy, usually its the allegic reaction that people get from the the therapy that kills them, such as the case of Jesse Gelsinger in 1999. under most cercumstances, the established methods have been very successful even though the technology is just in its infent state.
